iN THE HEART OF THE COMMUNITY

KHONA started as a grassroots, community wellness festival popping up in local Atlanta parks. With inclusivity at the heart of its purpose, our Founder, Shelby created KHONA to create community in the wellness space that was designed and curated by and for BIPOC. Our mission is to create more wellness opportunities for individuals and communities in areas with less access to the privilege of self-care, and create more diversity in areas where that access is abundant. April of 2020, she hosted the very first pop-up yoga class in a local park to her own neighborhood. Today, the events include a variety of healing services, including sound therapy, breathwork, guided meditations and international wellness retreats.

MEET SHELBY ADINA

Our founder and instructor Shelby is a 500 Hour RYT, Sound Healer, and Meditation Guide.  Her speciality as Fitness Curator and Coach is blending art, music, and culture for an intense workout in efforts to build a diverse wellness community. Her passion is cultivating community and inspiring creativity through the exploration of movement and authentic connection.  Shelby’s mission is to create safe spaces for people to move together in harmony and provide healing through the transformative experience of yoga, sound, and meditation.

“Khona” in the African Zulu language translates to “there” or “at that place.” It is a refreshing take on how to view yourself in your fitness journey. You are already your most ideal self in the ability to move freely, you are empowered by the capability to overcome your challenges. The beauty is in the process and the process starts wherever you are.

"KHONA is simultaneously a tool to progress and celebrate our community's diversity and health equity. It's a vision of an ideal future. I welcome you on the journey.”
